Steve has over twenty years of experience in the development and management of products and services for the older population. He was the founding President and CEO of AARP Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of AARP which develops and manages (as a marketing intermediary) insurance, financial service, healthcare and lifestyle products. Steve was instrumental in developing strong working partnerships with major financial services firms including The Hartford, United HealthCare, New York Life, MetLife and Scudder. AARP Services, Inc. generated over $5 billion in annual premiums from members and over $200 million annually in royalties to AARP and its related entities. Previously, Steve was General Counsel of AARP, where he negotiated many of the member service arrangements for AARP members. Steve has a BA in economics from Brown University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
John J. Sweeney, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
John is a senior financial executive with extensive financial services experience. He most recently served as the Chief Financial Officer for the New York Insurance Department’s Liquidation Bureau where he was charged with broad finance and operating responsibilities. Previously, he was the CFO for ING International Insurance Holdings, a complex international insurance operation with revenues of over $4B. He also spent four years with Aetna International and eight years with AIG. John holds a BS in Accounting from Arizona State University, a JD from Pace Law School and a Masters in Tax Law from NYU.
